This pic over states a longboard kick out.
First rule;
The faster you are going down the face the better and more verdical a kick out you can get.
Guide lines;
-moving really far back on the board will produce more leverage to help you lever the nose off of the face of the wave
-getting your back foot just off of center of the stringer ( twards the face of the wave) will help the board respond quicker
-never jerk the board out and around instead set up a line or curve and let the board follow through
-let your wieght and the wave do most of the work
-it helps to over clock your exit turn almost as if you wanted to do a 180 out of the wave
-drag for your foot and ankle through the wave will create all the rotation needed...twisting and snapping around are all extra movements
-practice..practice..practice
Step by step
-trimming in the face of the wave on the center of the board
-move your back foot back twards the tail block
-re square your stance
-pick your curve or line out of the wave with your eyes
-literally! point at your chosen exit point on the wave with your forward hand
-move your back foot 1" back and 1" in twards the wave
-lean twards the lip of the wave slightly
-pull your front knee towards your chest
-straighten out your back leg
-rotate your front facing shoulder about 10-20 degrees in twards the wave with your hips just behind them
-when you leave the back of the wave try not to land on the deck with your face
-then report back to Harbour Surf Talk with results
