Here is a short vignette about the stoke of picking up and riding a new Harbour surfboard. I picked it up just last month and was lucky enough to score some clean, glassy waves at Palos Verdes Cove later that morning. This is a video from my happy day.

A 10-foot Board? Really!?!?

I grew up surfing in Huntington Beach and after a 13-year hiatus from surfing, I have decided to get back into it. I Will buy a Harbour surfboard; either the Banana or one of the HP models. But the size chart recommends a 10' board (I'm 6' tall and weigh 195 lbs.). Today I was driving back from a weekend in San Diego with the family and during a pitstip I stopped into a surfshop to guage how big a 10' board is. They are friggin' HUGE. I have never owned a board longer...

The Glass Job & cold weather

Now that we're having a very cold spell, I was wondering if the Glassing process is affected by the lower than normal temperatures. I remember that Rich once said that when its warm, the boards take longer to cure, and I paraphrase. So what if any issues would the cold temps have on the glassing process?

Decent overhead swell and howlin' offshore wind this morning, but kinda lumpy.

Air: 31˚F, water: 56˚F.

Broke out the 4/3 for the first time this winter + booties and 3M Hooded vest for this morning's dawn patrol. Still frost on the rooftops when I got out...

Questions for Quatro riders

Anybody ridden the Quatro in both PU and EPS/epoxy construction? If so, I would be interested to hear your impressions about the relative merits/drawbacks of these two different methods as it applies to the performance of this particular shape in varying conditions and wave size.

Comments by those who have ridden Quatros made of only one or the other material also welcome. I've ridden lots of singles, twins, thrusters and 2+1s (both long and short) but never a 4-fin. If you...

Longboard to Shortboard?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to surfing. I know everyone here is big Harbor Surfboard fans. I am too! Beautiful craftsmanship. But I have a question that I hope to get an unbiased answer.

I'm riding a fish right now because a friend gave it to me to use for free. If I learn on a longboard will this make it harder to transition to a shortboard?

I am 5'10 - 145 lbs.

Merlin - Where does it fit in the quiver?

Just wondering if we could get some specifics on the design and performance characteristics of Harbour's latest. My understanding of the Merlin is pretty limited - but it looks like it might be a noserider with a bit more manuverability than the NR. But, rather than me guessing, I would love to get the official scoop. Are the stats finalized, or is this still a work in progress? (I remember that some changes were make in the NR dimensions before the final board was released)
